Brain Dump
It's 1993 all over again! DC comics has dusted off the Death of Superman storyline and repackaged it in a hardcover Omnibus edition and they also released an animated version of the story |

This updated
animated movie cleaned up the sometimes confusing storyline and it also
didn't forget that their audience would expect more than "safe"
Saturday morning fare. Doomsday actually kills people and our hero is seen
post coital with Lois in Fortress of Solitude. Overall it was a fun way to
get excited to dig into the new 784 page edition Omnibus.

This
heavy tome reprints the entire death and return storyline from the early
90's. I actually own all the issues but since they are still in storage back
in NY I bought the book. Hey it also 40% off on
Amazon.com. I recommend both the DVD and book. I hope this
page isn't turning to a big advertisement, but I only promote items I own and
enjoy and I get no profit so on with the next item item up for bid on the
Price is Right. I have
identified with and loved Tom Petty music for over 25 years. Damn I'm old but
being old has it's perks too. Not many musicians have stayed as relevant and
popular as Mr. Petty so it's now time for the career spanning retrospective
DVD, concert and yes coffee table book. On the one hand this may seem like a
marketing event and normally I'd agree since we've seen this treatment done
before; Duran Duran (shudders). Tom really deserves this treatment because his music has earned it. The 2 DVD documentary is just plain awesome. The film is so interesting and engaging that it stands on it's own. You don't have to be a Petty fan to enjoy it and perhaps it may be more fun to the newly initiated.
Along with the
2 DVD's you also get a live concert DVD from the 2006 tour and a live music
CD. The packaging is neat and just enough so that you won't lose half of it
over the years (think Playback extras). The companion
hard cover book is also a treat but this is really meant for the Petty
diehards. The expanded stories and extra photos are probably too much
information for the casual fan but for me it was icing on the cake. Everyone
should get the DVD and the true fans should get both. If you aren't sure go
ahead and rent it, Tom deserves at least that much after all he's done for
you. Expired Housewives of Orange County Oh it's back
and worse than ever! My favorite crazy women of "The Real Housewives of
Orange County" have started a new season and the cast now boasts
"the hottest wife in the OC" Tamara. She has replaced Jo who is off
pursuing her recording career with her sac Slade in tow. I never thought
this show would last but I guess we will never get tired of watching these
tired, wired, and expired women try to convince us (and themselves) that they
have something to say. They do say allot but their trials and tribulations
are so trivial that it makes me laugh, until I cry. Cry because now I see
that the kids will carry on the tradition of shallowness and lack of
character.
Anyways let me
get to Tamara, the newest wife. She is 40 with 4 kids. One 21 year old boy
from her youth (tramp) and 3 kids under 8 from her current rich husband. The
current husband hates the oldest son because he reminds the "perfect
husband" that his "perfect wife" is not so perfect.
To control her older son
and make him accept the dill weed jerk face she has married Tamara reminds
him that he could have been "not born?". She has sacrificed and
endured implants, botox, bad dye jobs, and god knows what else to get her
current husband and this son is messing it up. The son is so whacked out that
for his mom's birthday he had Forever Grateful tattooed across his chest. It
is a message to his mom thanking her for not having him be "not
born". All I can say
is wow! Tamara actually believes she is the hottest wife but I submit this:
an actual picture of her sitting poolside. Look at that belly, yuck! What the
hell happened there? Also please look at the hair, it is so worn out that it
looks like straw. This season is going to be a ride for sure, I haven't gone
off about the other wives and what they are up to. How can something that
tastes so good go down so bad? Tune in to find out. If the show isn't
enough then head over to the Bravo website and take in the rate the housewife
section. Yes actual wives (or husbands) send in pictures with some personal
information and then we get to rate them. The range of "talent" is
staggering. They go from plain to plain scary. Here's a sample... Welcome
to the Monkey House: Billy Bob Blue
Please welcome the
newest addition to the Leftcoastlove monkey troupe. Yes a group of monkeys is
called a troupe. Anywho please welcome Banana's long lost Uncle Billy
(hillbilly?) from West Virginia. Here we see Bill Bob Blue with a special
greeting in hand as he waits to meet Banana.
More Mule Part IV - 11.09.07 The Fillmore
- San Francisco, CA The second time seeing Warren Haynes and Gov't. Mule in the past 30 days. I know I keep saying it but this guy is the real deal. I'd make a deal with the devil to play like him for just one day. One day of expressing myself like never before, one day of living my favorite songs, and one day of letting my guitar gently weep.
Set 1:
Stacey and I
once again stood in the front. She tried to look supportive as I wailed away
on a number of different air guitars. Warren did two full sets. We
actually left early, 1 a.m. I just couldn't stand anymore. The Fillmore is an
awesome venue but there are no seats. You are treated to an up close view of
the show but you pay for part of it with your feet. I am currently
checking the Mule Tracks website to see when they will release the Fillmore
shows for sale. Warren makes every show available online, I love owning all
the Mule shows I've been seen. No two shows are the same so they also have a
long shelf life. I still listen to the Warfield show from '06 just for the
Beatles medley. These Mules have horsepower!

Cop -
You never know what kind of gems you can find in the free movie section of
Comcast. It was a rainy day in San Francisco and I couldn't resist the teaser
that boasted a "thumpin' soundtrack" from Sly and Robbie and Reggae
cop action. I made the selection and kicked back on the couch as was treated
to a shot on video crap-fest. But it was wonderful crap-fest. Check out the
YouTube clip and you'll get the idea.
The story revolves
around a cop who has to choose between his childhood friends from the wrong
side of town and his obligation to the law. I won't tell you which he chooses
so you'll have to watch for yourself. The entire movie is in English but they
still used subtitles in case you needed some help understanding. All in all an excellent way to kill 90 minutes on a rainy day. If this gem is buried then there must be more. One more reason that free is for me.
