Keeping it Left since 2001!!!

Half Moon Bay 4 a Day

Once the brutal winter storms passed Stacey and I had to get out of the house.  We grabbed the keys to our freshly detailed car and headed for PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).  The sun screamed out to us and since I was going to leaving for Europe again it seemed the perfect day to spend as a couple sharing the last day together.

South of San Francisco is the wonderful town of Half Moon Bay.  This is the spot most people visit to charter boats for fishing or whale watching off the coast of Northern California.  The coastal views are also breath taking and remind me again why I love the San Francisco Bay Area so much!

The recent winter storms that kept us inside for almost a week had finally broken and with the sun in full force Stacey and I stopped to admire the tumbling waves and spend some quality time holding hands.  One of the best things about our area is all the different types of beaches we have in such close proximity to SF.

We have beaches for sunning, surfing, fishing, kayaking, and scuba.  Whatever your pleasure we got a spot.  This particular beach is a little too dangerous for swimming but the breeze and tall waves make it a perfect spot for holding your girl close and just enjoy.

In addition to the magnificent coastal views Half Moon Bay also has a quaint little downtown area.  Originally an old west town that still has many reminders of the time it is must see.  The original church and jail are still standing and in pristine condition.  You almost feel like you are back in time.  Stacey and I joked that it might be fun to have our wedding in the church and hold the reception in the old jail.

As we were checking out the old town we stumbled across a weary Santa.  He obviously was worn out from the long journey delivering toys.  Not to miss an opportunity we snapped a few pics with the jolly old man.

The rest of Half Moon Bay is beautiful as well.  The new downtown area still retains allot of charm and is speckled with small shops and businesses that have all but disappeared in other areas.  The big box store invasion has not yet made it to Half Moon Bay so you can still build personal relationships with your local vendors and businesses.  There is satisfaction in visiting the small shops to pick up groceries and believe it or not we did not see one Starbucks in the downtown area, there is one located back towards the highway which caters to the day trippers and those just enjoying one of the last great driving roads in the US.

Peace,
Sean
